Startups are short on cash and running an AI Agent development team is not cheap. Salaries of a team of 3 developers + contractors + infra costs + marketing could easily exceed well beyond $250k for a year. Ideally, teams have enough runway for at least 12 months so investors aren’t left with a team that abandons the token after a few months due to lack of funding.

As entrepreneurs, you should bootstrap using your personal savings, not pay yourself or pay yourself the minimum wage for a certain period until pmf is met or certain milestones are hit. Skin in the game is important - if you're not investing your personal savings, why should others do it? There is no free lunch and high risk equals potentially high returns.

From a finance pov, teams should invest as little as possible into acquiring tokens as they should rather have more cash to cover future operating expenses.
